All Things Medieval Zombie

It's a broad topic, but it's essentially anything pre-gun era. Warrior Heroes, Red Sand Blue Sky, Rally Round the King for a start.

All Things Medieval Zombie

Hi everyone...
I'd just like a moment to pick everyone's collective brain, if I may...

I've been doing a fair of Swordplay lately (the first one, from MANY years ago) and I decided that I was going to have to a zombie rampage at some point. Obviously.
I was just going to treat zombies as "Warrior Rep 4" and say they pass 2d6 on all reaction tests, but cannot fast move...

But then I remembered all the lovely rules from ATZ (Zombie Feasting comes to mind...) and I wondered if anyone out there in the world had tried combining Swordplay with ATZ? All Things Zombie in a Medieval setting, sort of thing?

How has it gone down?

I know of a couple of people that have done it before. I'll wait for their input, if you don't hear anything, just ask again and I'll come back.

Ha!, Which Swordplay? Final Version (2012)? Final Version 3.1 (2014)? 2015? ;)

I'm doing a similar thing with 2d6 Sci-Fi, using the Skeletal Undead stats from Swordplay 2018 as the zombies. Basically all Rep 3/AC2 with "Never have to take Will to Fight" test and "Must re-roll 1 passed d6 on Action table".

Seems to work very well.

Good luck, M.

I've put on a number of Saxons vs. Zombies games. Swordplay 2015 is my go-to for that. Ed has pointed out that multiple zombie attacks on a single figure are best handled by adding a d6 for each zombie beyond the first. And success kills one at a time. Its too easy for the players otherwise. Of course, you still need to give zombies Rep 4. The gamers seem to get a kick out of it.
The only good zombie no longer moves.
