What games to run at Texicon in 2014?

Postby Atomic Floozy » Sun Nov 17, 2013 10:38 pm

This year, Texicon was in May & I started preparing for it in January. I barely had everything done in time. For 2014, Texicon is at the end of June, so I need to start considering what game or games to run. In the past, some of the games have had good attendance & some not so good. So I'm turning to the THW group to help me decide what games to run. Yep, my first try at a poll:

I've run RRtK & RSBM in the past with mixed results. I don't know if it is the scenarios I've chosen, or if guys just don't like playing with a female game master. I think I'll leave my first name off of the program this year & see what happens. :D

In addition to my RRtK & RSBM games, other THW games run in the past include ATZ, NUTS!, & CR3.0. One year there were at least 6 ATZ games & a couple of other Zombie games by another company.

I've had people comment that they would like to see a CA or SGS game, but don't know if they would actually play.

Oh, & if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I just need to make a decision before Christmas so I can get cracking on any additional minis, terrain, play testing, etc. I just don't do Zombies. :D

Come run a game in Saint Louis, MO, [Die Con probably the best venue] and I will shanghai some people to play (THW is a side show here and I am still self-tutoring in THW games.)
Gracias,

Glenn

My main vote go to the rescue mission scenario.
Put the tactical abilities and team work of your players to the test.
One hasty move and there goes the first hostage. If they can't coordinate their action, then there goes the other ones.

I like the battle arena. Much simpler, but can still be a lot of fun.

I voted, but might I suggest a saucy Pirate themed game with And a Bottle of Rum.

So far the poll is leaning toward a Colonial Adventures Lemuria game featuring a party of explorers & the natives of Nobelongga.

Or perhaps a Lemuria based pirates adventure.

Well, I don't own any pirates or 28mm ships. The pirate games run at MilleniumCon a few years ago were fantastic with ships, dingys, islands, etc. I'll take a look at "And a Bottle of Rum" tonight & see if the muse strikes. For Lemuria, you would think the pirates would be Chinese or Arabic.
