15mm Sudan army

I played twice in Rich Smethurt's "At the Wells with the Desert Column, Sudan" at Colonial Barracks. He used Clive Griffith's "Fighting Englishmen" TSaTF variant for an enjoyable game. I was so taken with the look of his 15's and their basing that I decided to do something similar with CA 2nd Ed. The infantry are mounted on 20mm x 30mm bases. My mod for CA will be 8 20 x 30 bases and 4 15 x 20 bases for command and change. Cav will be 4 bases of 30 x 30 and 2 bases of 15 x 30mm. Artillery on 30 x 30 with the artillery piece left loose on the base for when the artillerymen must run.

Rich has 3 Mahdists on 30 x 30 bases. Mine will be 9 of 2 on 20 x 30 and 2 15 x 20 for leader and change.

Egyptians and Sudanese on the way. I'll keep you posted on how I progress!

First update: Here is a picture of Egyptian Gendarmes, really poor soldiers since they were really police. The figures are still shiny, and all metal black because I don't dullcoat until after they are mounted on their bases. After dullcoating, I add the metallic.

And here are Old Glory 15's (not the Blue Moon ones). I chopped off their bayonets because they were both too large and too delicate.

I am, of course, waiting on Litko for bases.

They look great. Good call on the bayonets too.

Egyptian company (two platoons) The company commander, in spite of having 3 figures on the base will count as a single figure. The platoons are in close order. The Gendarmes behind them are in open order.

Thanks, Ian.
I have been a bit remiss with updates, so here are a few.

1/2 unit of Old Glory 15's Egyptian cavalry.

I just received 350+ Old Glory 15's Beja, who are so far superior to the Stone Mountain that I may not let them on the table.
I have another company and 1/2 of Egyptian infantry, and a company of Egyptian Sudanese infantry to add. There are also 2 Egyptian limbers to add galloping Gatlings or gun to the cavalry contingent. I am awaiting Bashi Bazouks from Brookhurst Hobbies. No notification of shipping, but that's normal for them.
