After tinkering with other things for almost a year, I've returned to working on my 5150 cross-system/multi-system write up for a full Free Company reinforced battalion with organic command and all the trimmings.

Surprisingly, that's really hard – because all of the games in the 5150 line sort of disagree about fairly elemental parts of a battalion's organization and a whole pile of other things. But, being completely insane, I'm not about to let that stop me from actually making headway. (Except that I totally let that stop me from making headway for months – because reasons.)

Right now, my biggest complaint is that SA: 2nd Tour didn't ship with vehicle rules, but luckily for me when I started working on this thing the original SA was the primary source I was working off of, and it has rather nice vehicle rules. As a side effect if you have No Quarter or Battalion Commander, you could actually reverse engineer perfectly functional vehicle rules to use in SA: 2nd Tour.

Let me give you a little bit of what I was working on today:

The OOSec Observer Team can be taken as a company support weapon option. When on the board with line of sight to the enemy, they can automatically change a Reinforcement Test^[[**SA**][sa], p40.] into an Off Board Support result once. If the result would have been Off Board Support anyway, increase the Impact by +1 to represent the greater accuracy.

I've still got a long way to go with this and with my luck the vehicle supplement for SA2 will be out before I'm done and require an entire rewrite – but them's the breaks when you take on a big personal project and slack on it as hard as I have.

That's great ! Nice job ! I had something like that in my head but for spaceships.

I finally made something much much simplier (Just a list of squad names and ships...), but I'll see what you get to check if I can detail more.

Looks really interesting.

I don't actually want to build out a whole orbital fleet along with this and I have been struggling against that as hard as I can – but I suspect that I'm going to have to integrate some Carrier Command into things just so I can talk about how vehicles, infantry, and equipment actually get moved around for a Free Company mercenary group.

I don't want to, but I suspect I'm going to.

This is how you have a project that doesn't get done for over a year.

Can it be that I've found another like me? I, too, mess around with THW titles but mainly so I have something to do during the day. I was working heavy on a crunchier version of After the Horsemen and it ended up becoming a monster. It's almost finished. There's GURPS involved... well, it got sorted into a bunch of d6 rolls but still - GURPS. Anyway, the Wasteland is really heavy with die rolls now. Ed knows what he's doing when he makes games as they're fun to play and don't feel like homework.

Just looking at your table of contents, I think we'd get along. Only the insane would do what we do. Seriously, though, excellent work. Time for me to get back to work putting more weapons into SA 2nd Tour.
