J Glasco posted some more Optionals & House Rules for Nuts at

He was a infantry officer, is a military historian and inveterate wargamer, so I would trust his judgement.

Some good ideas. I may try a few. Thanks for sharing. I agree with Jeff about Italy After Normandy, it's a must have supplement.

Just thought I would reveal the last line in Jeff's Optional and House Rules musings

21. The Italy After Normandy has many good rules in it. I recommend the following:
*Medics/Outgunned (page 3)
*Hiding (page 8)
*Plowed Fields (page 10)
*Low Crops (page 10)
*Heavy Mud/Soft Ground (page 10)
*Foxholes and Ditches (page 11)
*Ruins (page 11)
*Rubble (page 11)
*Barbed Wire (page 11)
*Call For Surrender (page 15)
*Mass Surrender (page 15)
*After the Battle Recovery (page 15)
*Hospitalization Returns (page 17)
*Walking Wounded (pages 17-18)
*Exhaustion (page 19)
*Ending a Mission - Retreat (page 20)
*Swimming (pages 40-41)
*Mortars (page 45-48)
Discussion: The Italy After Normandy supplement book is very well done and worth purchasing.

In addition, there are rules in IAN for encountering traps and civilians, plane strafing, guard dogs and searchlights.
There is a rule for allowing chunks of time to pass by quickly on the table while the participants get a Break in the Action.
There is a Campaign to move your Star up the ranks to lead the platoon as you go through months of battles. And there is even rules on carousing when he's On Leave.

JP, I like the Break in the Action rules. It adds story mid game or after the PEFs have been resolved. The other rule I really like is the Messenger where your mission can change mid game.

Nice job on IAN!

Hi,

Thanks for sharing.
Great stuff on Jeff's Optional Rules & House Rules for Nuts, but I do not understand or I'm confused about the point No. 7

7. For prone in a HE blast area, reduce the HE Impact of the attacking weapon by 2, then roll on the Ranged Combat Damage table for effects.
Discussion: This lessens but does not eliminate the chance for damage if prone. For example, a Rep 4 figure who is prone in the blast area of a grenade (HE impact value of 2) has 4/9 chance of not being out of the fight or dead (also a 5/9 or 55% chance of being killed or out of the fight). If the same figure was not prone, he would have a 70% of being killed our out of the fight. It also represents that you are far better off prone in an HE blast areas than standing.

This means a grenade HE impact value of 2 is reduced to 0? And therefore, according to Ranged Combat Damage Table, a prone figure never will be affected by a score of ("1" or Impact or less but not a "1") and so OD and Out of Fight never will be the result for this figure? Some light on this?

Thanks in advance.

I am retiring my old domain (g-design.us) so I have moved my Nuts! fan page with General Reference Chart to:

https://wargamecampaign.wordpress.com/2017/06/04/nuts/

And all my wargame materials will eventually be at https://wargamecampaign.wordpress.com/

Please reset your bore sight. :)
