Dice roller for Chain Reaction 2015

Postby r_nakamura » Wed Dec 07, 2016 12:27 am

So I had to brush up my knowledge of using front end libraries like JQuery Mobile, and I decided to build a dice roller web app for Chain Reaction 2015. It includes most rolls, like In Sight, ranged and melee combat, reactions and so on, as well as PEF and NP force tables. Just find the roll you want, set the options and push the corresponding "Roll" button. The app then switches to a results log, showing the outcome of the roll. If anyone wants to check it out, please access:

https://rinaka.github.io/cr15roll/

and the source code is in the same repository:

https://github.com/rinaka/cr15roll

Note 1: The interface is built using JQuery Mobile and it will really work better on a mobile phone / tablet. On a computer, the interface gets stretched out laterally, becoming really ugly and bad to read. Note that once you download the page, it does not need further Internet access.

Note 2: I made the roller based on CR 2015 because it is the free title from THW (thus I would not be disclosing information about the other games in the program) but of course, if Ed thinks it is not OK to have this, I can delete the GitHub repository right away.

Hm, I'll have to find an iPad to test this. Usually this happens if the javascript files dont load correctly.

No worries. Just thought I'd help with the bug squashing.

A quick test using Chrome on OSX El Capitan shows it works fine - and I can always make the page narrower if it really disturbs my flow ;-)

Thanks for the feedback!

It turns out I was using a Javascript feature that is not compatible with Safari (default parameter values.) I changed the code and it seems to be working now on the Safari browser of IPhone 6. I ran out of my trial period of browserstack.com before I could make a last test on IPad Air :)

Nice work! Although when I tried the PEF Resolution, I kept getting, "Something is definitely out there!" Not a problem, but I'm sure my character was a tad paranoid by that point.
