Chain Reaction 2015 15mm

No real story here, just some images. My guys went in on Patrol. One PEF was nothing. The next, 6 guys in the trees. Just when we had them, 8 guys in the building! We grabbed our wounded and ran!

Eighteen inches square, about half the size of a "3 by 3" table, in keeping with the half-sized figures (approximately, compared to 28mm figures).

Well, I also halved all of the ranges and movement and areas and such, so in theory it should play just like normal, and I think that it did (not that I have all that much experience).

I did like the compact feel of it all, though. Like a little board game. (It was also easier to pick up the whole thing and move it into another room.)

I've been downsizing my game table as well - 24"x24" or smaller.

Halving all distances is also what I do for 15mm. Makes a 36x36 table into an 18x18 board. While the figures are about half the height of current 28mm-30mm figs, they are a fraction of the volume, so it actually looks and plays really well. I found that keeping the distances the same meant that you had to really put down a lot more buildings and such to keep from having too much open space and looking "empty". That and figures look like they are zipping around huge distances (even though at figure scale an inch in 1:48 is only 4 feet and closer to 8 feet at 15mm-1/96).

I bought a 24"x24" piece of 5/8" plywood at my local Menards then glued craft foam on it, painted it with Kelly Green craft paint and blotched it with a natural sponge and dark green paint. Using cm for inches it gives me plenty of room.

My 15mm bocage mini-board, made from a 50x50cm carpet tile.

Nice to see that games are still enjoyable and look good on smaller tables.
