I do it as well, balances out the time I run into a meat grinder.

Im writing house rules for PEF for different scenarios. The very agressive PEF works great for straight up battles but for sneak attack or infiltration i want more passive PEFs.

A thing that we are doing that works pretty fine.
We have allot of higher power pieces in our games, we are running in a wierd world war II so stars is harder to kill and we have house rules for mechs.
What we have don is that each star and mech count as X number of models when resolving PEF´s.

PEFs can be tied directly into Enemy Activity or Investment Level. Just use the EA or IL for the PEF Rep.

Im sorry but i dont get it ?
Enemy activity ? Investment level ?

How we do it.

Is the alarm Active ?
If yes: Move acording to PEF movement table.
If no: Stay in Place.

How the alarm work.
If any model from that PEF is alive at the end of the turn that the PEF is trigered the alarm is sounded.

Certain games use ET or IL for how active an area is. This could be anything from 3 to 5 or 6. When rolling for PEF movement and resolution, you would use this number instead of a 4.

Easy to use.
Let's say you want to reflect an area that has lots of enemy involvement - then have the PEF Rep be 4 or 5 (Enemy Activity Level.)
Maybe it's a lightly held enemy area - then have the PEF Rep be 1 or 2.
For average activity go with 3.
