Hi,

My name is Scott Chisholm and I live about 20 miles to the southwest of the Dallas-Ft Worth metroplex in a wide spot on the road called Cresson, TX. I've been gaming since the mid '70s, mostly WW2 and modern naval games. I got hooked on miniatures after a friend introduced me to Melee, Wizard, and ultimatly The Fantasy Trip. Shifted to Tunnels and Trolls, picked up some newer generation wargames along the way, usually those that can easily be played solitaire.

Then one morning a couple of years ago I woke up with a burning desire to play a tabletop sci-fi role playing game, but it had to be a solitaire game as I have no one with which to play. Somehow, I stumbled across THW (Boardgame Geek, perhaps?) and downloaded Chain Reaction and Swordplay. After spraining my brain trying to convice myself that failing an activiation roll did not equal being unable to do anything, I started to warm up to the rules. Pulled out some of my minis to give the rules a try and got hooked.

5150 Star Army was my first THW purchase, followed by ATZ Better Dead. New Beginnings came next. Picked up a hard copy of Red Sun, Black Moon at Dibbles in San Antonio after that. Then, earlier this year, after a particularly vexing day at work, and in the complete absence of chocolate in the house, I fell into a full-on buying frenzy and picked up every THW title I could convince myself I had miniatures to play.

Every time I pick up some of the rules, I marvel at their simplicity and elegance. As we say in the USN, BRAVO ZULU!
Regards,

Scott Chisholm

Suppose I'd better do an into post even though I've been registered here quite a while now.

I've been wargaming off and on since around the early 70s initially with Airfix and Matchbox polythene figures and kits largely for WWII. Moved on to doing ACW in 15mm and some Medievals and Fantasy in 25mm metals, did a bit of SF gaming in 25mm but really got into using 15mm SF once Laserburn and its associated miniatures came out.

Got into THW with Chain Reaction and first edition NUTS, since then I've bought a lot of other sets such as Muskets & Mohawks, Muskets & Shakos, Warrior Heroes: A&A, Colonial Adventures, FNG and Bottle of Rum.

Now I'm playing WWII in 20mm largely with soft plastic figures, mainly from Revell and Italeri and plastic model tanks, though I do use metals to bulk out the stuff that isn't available in plastic. For rules I'm using NUTS, but I've got some other sets that will be interesting to compare.

I still play ACW and SF in 15mm, along with Fantasy Skirmish in 25mm and Flintloque, for Napoleonics I'm looking at doing some armies using largely 20mm plastic figures and I'll post pictures as I get on with them.

Hi there! I'm Lucas. I live in New South Wales, Australia.

While I am big into modelling (WW2 tanks and aircraft predominantly), I haven't been into tabletop wargaming for too long, and have only really had experience with Warhammer (both 40k and Fantasy) and Warmachine prior to getting into THW. For a long while I've been wanting to branch out beyond these, particularly into historical or sci-fi naval wargaming, but time and time again I've ran into the problem of not having anyone in my area to play games (that aren't Warhammer or Warmachine) with.

One day I decided to do a google search for solitaire wargames, and I was introduced to Two Hour Wargames through a very helpful thread on Boardgame Geeks. From there my first THW wargame was 5150: Star Navy, followed by 5150: Fighter Command, and most recently, with the release of the final version, I've been playing NUTS! and its supplements the most. I have bought others, like Warrior Heroes and After the Horsemen, but I haven't been able to pry myself away from NUTS! long enough to try them out just yet :D. It's very hard to resist buying the rest of THW's range, and I'm sure I'll be loading even more books into my collection when I get more money. Thank you for making games for the solo gamer that are not only very, very fun, but also horrifyingly addictive .

Good evening from Spain (Madrid). First of all I want beg your pardon with my "spanglish"...

I´m a new 5150 battalion commander gamer and I´m just learning the rules. I´m afraid that I have several doubts.
I want to play big battles so I want to give a chance to theses rules.
Historical wargamer with too many ages to play...napoleonic, XVIII, IIWW, SCW, imperial romans, middle age and so on...

Cheers.

Hi my name is Steve from London UK.

Ex RPG-er from the 80's, I was alos a long time fan of all-things workshop (40k,fantasy battle, space marine, necromunda, mordheim space hulk and advanced space crusade). After "growing up" and committing gaming heresy by giving everything away except my true love (space hulk and all the expansions).

Years later and single again, I retrieved my dusty old copy of space hulk 1st edition......and it had no minis!!! returning to games workshop to get some new minis for the game I was like amazed at how good the models out there had become... alas I was lost, my love for gaming and painting rekindled. now armed with online shopping modelling supplies/minis/rules which were all harder to find back in the day are only a keyboard away!!!

Now married with a family hobby time is limited but do-able..... just takes a while to actually get things finished!!! anyways enter THW and 5150..... solo rules!!!

I have a painting/modelling blog on tumblr which is really a memory aid for all my project strands, and allows me to pick up from where I last left off due to the frequent incursions of real life!!!

Apart from the modelling/painting I plan to use 5150 urban renewal in the 40k universe, blending dark heresy and necromunda.

Hi my name is Jan,
I am currently living in Plzen, Czech Republic.
I´m in wargaming since 2000s, as most people here i started with WH40K, WHFB and then quickly moved to the specialist games and non-gw system.
While i have co-players for some of games i play most people here "freeze" on Mordheim which is not bad game but its not suited for me and while my friends put lot of effort to balance game the result is opposite.
The main reason for me to play THW games is variety of systems - ground combat, space combat, skrimish, big battles and capability of playing solo. I own Star Navy, 5150 Fighter Command, 5150:Star Army, 5150:
I am also writter of Able Archer game system which is free but it doesnt have solo capabilities :D :D

I live in Uruguay in an olive grove and playing wargames since 1965 (Avalon Hill boardgames). Miniatures since about 1970 when Tractics was delayed and they sent us Leon Tucker's Fast Rules instead. Later that year we got the samzidat version of Tractics which was then called GRT for Gygax, Reese & Tucker and we played about 100 games on a 6x10' sand table. Then graduated high school and went to work.

Got into D&D in 1974 and then started Judges Guild with Bob Bledsaw publishing play aids for fantasy role playing games. Sold my share in 1978 with mostly back to historical boardgames and miniatures. Command Decision's 4 versions (platoon per stand level) and Great Battles of WWII (company per stand) plus General Quarters 3 for WWII naval. Volley & Bayonet for full Civil War battles.

I still make play aids (like the one for Nuts) and these can be found at www.g-design.us. Been exposing total newbies of elder age group and some Warhammer young people to traditional wargames. With a burgeoning navy of 1:3000 ships and recently 1:72 troops I've been painting again which is fun especially with southern hemisphere's early winter nights. Since I had been mostly microarmor and 3mm, those are so tiny that you couldn't tell whether the paint job was bad or just "realistic"!
