Cheap Sci-Fi Minis

Postby Xeg Proxim » Tue Jun 27, 2017 12:47 am

Hello all, I'm just getting back into wargaming after a long hiatus that saw me sell off all my minis years ago. I'm getting into Chain Reaction and although I can use paper minis I really won't be 100% happy without actual minis on the board. Can anyone recommend where I can get some basic plastic minis of a sci-fi nature that won't break the bank? Think GW Imperial Guard style... Cheers

Reaper has a few in their Bones line of plastic minis. They work out to about $2 each. If you happen to live near Denton, Texas, the Reaper Game Store keeps a bunch Loose in a bin to sell to people in their paint classes for only $1 each.

You could always go 15mm. I find they average about 1 USD per miniature.

There's a line of 15mm sci fi coming out from THW this year on a Kickstarter.

22 infantry for $10. There are:

Star Army - 4 figures
Hishen - 2 figures
Grath - 2 figures
Zhuh-Zhuh - 2 figures
BTA ISS - 2 figures
Razor - 1 figure
Xeog - 1 figure.
Bugs - 2 figures

Some are already cast and just waiting on the production molds for the last six figures.

Depending on the scale and how Sci-Fi you want, I recommend 1/72 plastic figures as seen on www.plasticsoldierreview.com
They usually go for about $10 for a box of about 35 figures in several poses.

Heroclix can be another good source of cheap figures and they come prepainted.
