The Quick and the Zed: Death Warmed Over

Postby BLACKSTAR » Mon Jan 02, 2017 12:14 am

"The Quick and the Zed: Death Warmed Over" is my blog that covers Zombie and Post-Apocalyptic wargaming. It is about a year older than "The Blackstar Chronicles", but I haven't given it much attention in the last year, but that is changing in 2017. I am renewing interest in All Things Zombie and After The Horsemen this year and plan to devote lots of time to gaming in the bleak future of the Zombie Apocalypse. I just started a new feature on The Quick and the Zed: Death Warmed Over, it's called "Addled Ramblings of a Bramaged Dain", where I will be posting random thoughts from time to time about Zombie and Post-Apocalyptic gaming.

In this first post, I propose forming an unholy matrimony of two THW favorites...

I like the idea of mixing ATZ with other genres. I was messing around with the idea of modifying 2d6 rules for ATZ games. It's still the same genre, just easier dice rolls.

Ed suggested using 2d6 Sword and Sorcery in a comment he made on the blog, and I think I will try that instead of WH:L - it does make everything easier ;)

If you're using 2d6 rules, how are you handling zeds charging? In the original ATZ rules, zeds automatically on the opposed Charge table. However, in the 2d6 rules, the Charge table is unopposed. I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out the same thing for my games, and simply having zeds pass 1d6 seems to give them a huge disadvantage.

Have the figure being charged take the test instead of the zombie charger.

I really like the idea of 2d6 rules for ÄTZ. I'll be watching your progress.

Good idea, thanks!

My eventual goal is to be able to use a version of the 2d6 rules to play ATZ games and supplements.

That'd be ATZ Survivor, coming out soon.
